Tips for Maintaining Your Air Conditioner

  1. Close all windows and doors, and draw the curtains and blinds when you turn on the air conditioner.
  2. Clean or replace your air conditioner filter(s) every 6-12 months, depending on usage. Replacing your air conditioner air filter (or cleaning it, if you have a reusable filter) is one of the most important regular Air Conditioner maintenance practice. It should be done every month especially during high-use seasons.
  3. Remove the power plug when you do not use the air conditioner for a long time.
  4. Inspect your air conditioner’s thermostat to make sure it’s working properly and keeps your home at the right temperature. If you have an older, mechanical type thermostat, you may want to consider upgrading to a programmable model.
  1. Inspect your Condenser Unit Fan – Turn the power off to your air conditioner unit, and check the fan mounted on the top of the outside condenser unit to make sure it’s still in good condition. Replace the fan blades if there are any cracks or chips visible in one or more of the blades.
  2. Install the outdoor unit at a shady place and prevent from sun and rains.
  3. Do not block air inlets and outlets of the air conditioner.
